The Prayer Tree

St John the Baptist has been a place of prayer and sanctuary at the heart of the Peak District for more than seven hundred years. Visitors are always welcome to sit quietly in the pews, enjoy the stillness of the building, or light a candle.

Inside the church you will find our Prayer Tree, where visitors and residents are invited to write a prayer request or thanksgiving on a tag and tie it to the branches. Prayers placed on the Prayer Tree are remembered regularly during our Wednesday Morning Prayer service at 8:30am.
